human physiology class 11 / 07 / 08 - I had an assembly called "Doctors for Peers" in which I met some of my favorite faculty members and was lectured by a very great professor about the importance of health in the future of our world.
It was really interesting and also gave me a lot to think about during my subsequent weeks of being "sick."
freshman year - when I was in the Honors program - I worked for the Honors office doing the Honors Program Coordinator's job and also the Honors Weekend Coordinator's job on a volunteer basis. For the first 6 months I also did 6 credit hours of Honors level courses, since they had no instructors for the first semester, and I enjoyed this, so I would take 4 hours of Honors level courses in each semester - some of them as a class assignment and some of them as a personal assignment, with the school paying for the cost of the book. And some of the stuff I got to teach was a lot more interesting than the Honors level courses - the instructor would start off by saying what he wanted us to write about, and then I would send it to my Honors club buddies and they would write and then we would have a group discussion on it.
It was fun, but it also went way past my Honors level classes - I was teaching junior and senior Honors level and even some AP Chemistry and physics. freshman year - was a great year - I had a wonderful high school boyfriend who I met in the Honors Program, I took 4 AP classes, I was dating a boy I really liked and who was really great, and I felt like I was really making a difference at my high school. Freshman year also had some of the best teachers ever, including my Chemistry and Physics teachers. Mrs. Kane (the chemistry teacher) had already completed a semester of college, and my AP Physics teacher, Mr. Heller, had a PhD in engineering from the University of Minnesota. freshman year - had some really good friends, and got to go on a lot of school trips, such as a trip to LA to see the cemeteries.
I went to meet some of my friend's parents for the first time and I saw my first Dodger game at Chavez Ravine - Dodgers Stadium. I also saw the "Winter White House" - Mar - a - Lago. I had friends who lived on the west coast and I remember it snowing there, and I felt it was so cold compared to the mild California weather. freshman year - went to my first party, at a friend's house in Vista, CA. I had a good time, but I didn't get very drunk, since I was the designated driver - and I was very, very tired from my long drive down south. There was a guy there who I kind of liked, but I didn't have much to say to him because we were only talking to one another to be polite. I finally had to ask my friend if he was going to sleep with me, and if he was going to sleep with my friend if she wasn't around. I'm not sure how it went over, but I felt like it went over well.
After that I had some friends over to my place - I remember a couch getting thrown off the balcony, and we all crashed on the floor upstairs. Luckily, we hadn't had our party yet, so there weren't too many people there. Freshman year - there was a guy at my school who was in one of my classes, who I liked but didn't really have anything to talk to him about because he was a complete nerd. (He was the guy who always signed the paper when you were suppose to sign it - it was a little more exciting for him to be the "signer" since he was in honors - level classes, but he never really showed any signs of intelligence.) Anyway, one day we went for lunch and sat together. He seemed really cool and I wasn't that attracted to him, but I talked to him a lot. At the end of the semester he gave me a long list of little gifts and asked me out, and I said yes - and we had our first date.
I liked him a lot and he seemed to like me too, but I soon realized I had no chance with him and I realized he was just using me for my looks, and I realized he wasn't really that nice of a guy. I ended it and started to avoid him because he was so annoying. I didn't date anyone else until a little bit later. Senior year - my boyfriend and I broke up a month before graduation, and I was really depressed. At the time I thought I had it pretty good, since I had a boyfriend and I was dating, but now I realize I could have been living the high school experience with many more friends and some of the best teachers I've ever had. Senior year - started to date someone I knew from a class - although that was short - lived - mostly because I realized that I couldn't date and be happy at the same time. Senior year - my boyfriend and I broke up because he cheated on me, and I realized how much I loved him and wanted to be with him.
I made a vow that I would never let someone come in between us and that he would always be the only guy for me, so I never dated anyone else for almost 10 years, although I never stopped thinking about guys from time to time. Senior year - I had no one special. I was very happy to graduate, get out of school,
